A notice from NY Renews, a coalition of more than 100 grassroots, state, and national organizations. We aim to make New York State the nation’s leader in tackling the climate crisis while protecting workers and lifting up communities.

Dear NY Renews Community—

We are at a critical moment. President Trump walked away from a worldwide climate agreement exactly when we need all nations to lean in. There’s only a week and a half left in the legislative session—we have to act fast to make sure New York steps up to fill this leadership vacuum. We need laws to govern how we’re going to build a renewable future and give all New Yorkers a seat at the table—and there’s a bill in the legislature that could do just that. Assemblymember Englebright and Senator Avella introduced the Climate and Community Protection Act (A8270/S6617) earlier this week.

Now the legislature needs to hear from each and every one of us.

We need you to call/email/write/tweet/send carrier pigeons to the capitol. Our action page on the bill will connect you via phone, email, or social media to your legislators and legislative leaders. There are even talking points and draft emails right on the page.

Take one minute now to take action!

After you’ve done that, if you’re still looking for more ways to help fight climate change check out NY Renew’s Action Center. There are additional actions listed there that you can take, regardless of whether you have 10 minutes, or a few hours to give. And as always, we’re available if you need anything.

We only have a week and a half to push this over the finish line. Please do all you can, and forward this to a friend.

Thank you.
