Why This Event Matters:
Many immigrants, asylum seekers, and refugees arriving from warmer climates or regions without harsh winters are often unprepared for the extreme cold temperatures we experience here. For those newly resettling, managing this drastic change in weather can pose significant challenges. Winter can impact both physical and mental health, especially for newcomers without proper winter clothing, heating resources, or knowledge about staying safe in cold weather. The Winterization and Wellbeing Fair aims to address these needs by providing essential winter items, health information, and support, ensuring that everyone in our community feels safe, warm, and welcomed this winter season.
Registration:

We would be grateful for your support, whether by providing information on health services or any wellbeing related issues, contributing winterization kits, or donating items such as jackets, gloves, and warm clothing. Your partnership will help make this event impactful for newcomers facing their first winter in the region.
If your organization would like to participate or if you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to our Community Outreach Coordinator, Farhana, at farhana@risse-albany.org.
Thank you for considering this opportunity to make a positive difference in the lives of newcomers. We look forward to collaborating with you to support our community this winter.
