Saturday, October 5, all-day
At the Historic Metropolitan AME Church in Washington, DC and Online
Since 1914 we at Fellowship of Reconciliation have done all that we can to stop wars from waging around the world. But, here inside the United States wars are raging as well, in our schools, shopping centers, elections, and the hateful violence directed at our immigrant communities.
On October 5, in just a couple of weeks, we'll bring together experts, activists, and community leaders to explore solutions and inspire change.
More than six years ago, on February 14, 2018, a young man armed with an AR-15 walked into Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School and opened fire, killing 17, including Manny and Patricia Oliver's son Joaquin. Since that dreadful day, the Olivers have devoted their lives to activism to end gun violence, including a 50-day school bus tour last summer to meet with other victims of gun violence and call for change. “Joaquin is the fuel, Joaquin is my inspiration,” says Patricia.
The website is up for you to register to attend, in-person or online, FOR's one-day summit on gun violence and hear firsthand from Manny and Patricia Oliver, Shane Claiborne, Rev. William H Lamar IV, Representative Jonathan Jackson (IL-1), and others.
